The nominees for this year’s ESPYs have been revealed, and WNBA rookie star Caitlin Clark tops the list with the most nominations. Clark received three nominations for her achievements with the University of Iowa women’s basketball team, including best athlete in women’s sports, best record-breaking performance (for becoming the NCAA’s all-time scoring leader), and best college athlete in women’s sports. Other prominent nominees include Simone Biles, Patrick Mahomes, and Coco Gauff.

In addition to athletic awards, the ESPYs will also present the Arthur Ashe Award for Courage, the Jimmy V Award for Perseverance, and the Pat Tillman Award for Service, with honorees to be announced later. Last year, Angel Reese, Caitlin Clark’s on-court rival, won Breakout Athlete of the Year, surpassing Clark, Brock Purdy of the 49ers, and Julio Rodríguez of the Mariners. The 2023 NCAA women’s championship game featuring Reese’s Tigers and Clark’s Iowa Hawkeyes drew 9.9 million viewers.
