Uli Hoeness believes Florian Wirtz is in the wrong place: in Liverpool, all the stars want the ball for themselves

Florian Wirtz was considered FC Bayern’s dream transfer in the summer of 2025, but decided to move to Liverpool instead. This caused a lot of anger in Munich for a long time, but now Bayern feel they have lost nothing

Things have not been going well for Wirtz in Liverpool so far, and the Reds are also having an inconsistent season overall. Uli Hoeness has an explanation for this

Uli Hoeness: “Liverpool will soon have to play with five balls”

In a talk at Jurgen Hollers “Power Days” in Munich’s Olympiahalle, Uli Hoeness commented on Liverpool’s situation: “They’ve spent £500 million and are having a disastrous season. In my opinion, that’s because you only have superstars left

“You only have chiefs and no Indians – I shouldn’t say that, they’re indigenous people.”

“I always say: Liverpool will soon have to play with five balls because the stars don’t want to give up the ball,” said Hoeneß. “Poor Florian Wirtz doesn’t get the ball at all because Salah and Szoboszlai and whatever their names are want to play with their own ball.”

Uli Hoeness lashes out at Bayern ultras: ‘All clubs where these ultras call the shots have become second-rate’
