Ghana Star ‘Makes Decision’ On Which EPL Giants To Join

A Ghana star is reportedly keen on signing for Manchester City.

A Ghana international has reportedly made his preference clear regarding which Premier League giant he would like to join during the January transfer window.

According toThe Athletic, Black Stars forward Antoine Semenyo is keen on a move to Manchester City ahead of the other English heavyweights understood to be monitoring his situation. The 25-year-old has enjoyed a strong campaign with Bournemouth this season, scoring eight league goals and providing three assists, repaying the faith shown in him by the Cherries when he signed a new contract during the off-season.

The London-born attacker’s current deal at the Vitality Stadium runs until 2030. However, the report adds that it includes a £65 million (R1.4 billion) release clause, which is set to become active from 1 January until 10 January.

That figure is believed to drop further once the next summer transfer window opens, but several clubs are thought to be keen on moving early to gain an advantage over their rivals. While no official agreement has yet been reached, Manchester City are reportedly leading the race to secure the Ghana international’s signature.

The same report claims Chelsea made an initial enquiry regarding a potential move for the pacey forward but have since opted not to pursue the deal any further.

Manchester United were also said to be in contention, although a January move was viewed as unlikely. It is understood that a key factor in their decision not to proceed was new head coach Ruben Amorim’s desire to recruit only players who are fully committed to joining the club.
