Eminem, a superfan of the Detroit Lions, jokes that he shelved Ben Johnson’s diss track after the offensive coordinator remained put.
Eminem gave 49ers supporters a two-finger salute after his hometown Lions lost the NFC Championship Game.
This added to the humor of his X post from Tuesday, January 30, in which he said that he was scrapping a planned diss track directed at the team’s offensive coordinator, Ben Johnson. Slim Shady claimed that Johnson holstered his microphone when rumors surfaced that he had declined head coaching jobs in Seattle and Washington in order to remain in the Motor City.
I suppose I ought to quit recording this garbage music! Haha!” Twitter was used by Eminem. “@ Ben Johnson I’m grateful you stayed! This team is unbreakable, especially with me on it! We adore you, Coach Campbell, my brother! Come again next year; let’s do it! I’m prepared! I’ll get us to the Super Bowl, I swear to you!
The Lions enjoyed a spectacular season that put them in position to make their first Super Bowl appearance after years of moping around as an also-ran. But that ambition was dashed when they had a historic collapse against the 49ers, losing 34–31 on Sunday despite trailing by 17 points at one point.
Eminem made a reference to his previous social media posts praising his favorite ballers in his joke about being on the squad. When the Lions won their first NFC Championship game in thirty-two years two weeks ago, he was seen in a skybox as the big screen displayed a September tweet from the rapper that said, “Let’s f-king go!!!! Detroit.” That excited the crowd as his famous eight-mile pump-up hymn, “Lose Yourself,” played over the stadium speakers.
Then, as the Lions defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the cameras captured Slim Shady, all out in Lions regalia, bouncing up to flex and yell before hitting his chest. “I can’t believe I did it again!!! @Lions,” Em said in response to a meme at the time that showed his 8-mile character B-Rabbit driving around town. The post said, “[Lions QB Jared] Goff and the Lions are pulling up to the NFC Championship game.”
Eminem had tweeted the previous week that he was prepared to play and end the Lions’ three-decade playoff drought. That tweet was a follow-up to that one. Hey, Dan, I’m here to report.I will submit a report. Third quarter, says the 150-pound, 5’8″ rapper. “Offensive line, eligible receiver, here I am reporting. I’ll play all three positions on the offensive line, quarterback, and line. I’ll toss it to myself as the receiver and score a touchdown. During the third quarter,. Give me a uniform, please. or simply a helmet, at least.
According to a family snapshot that the rapper’s daughter Hailie Jade Scott posted following Sunday’s defeat, bleeding blue obviously runs in the family. The 28-year-old Just a Little Shady podcast host posted pictures of herself with her fiancé Evan McClintock, half-brother Nate, sister Alaina Marie Scott, and Alaina’s spouse, even though she was not in the pictures.
