The Alabama players claim that because of the Michigan sign-stealing issue, they are not allowed to watch films by themselves.
In the shadow of Michigan’s sign-stealing controversy, Alabama is not playing around.
In advance of Monday’s national semifinal matchup against the Wolverines, Crimson Tide players claim they are not permitted to view individual game films on their iPads as they usually do. Rather, they’re getting together in team spaces to watch movies in groups.
In Thursday’s media sessions, Isaiah Bond, an Alabama wide receiver, and Tyler Booker, an All-SEC left guard, discussed the new protocol. Nick Saban, the head coach, has not commented on the matter.
During a press conference, Bond seemed to disclose the strategy while fielding inquiries from reporters. It is forbidden for gamers to watch game films on tablets by themselves, according to Bond.
Regarding the film study, Bond remarked, We’ve been viewing it together. They said that Michigan had been pilfering signage for the first eight weeks, or something similar, I believe. We’re not permitted to watch movies on our own, so we’re only watching them with the team. We want to ensure that such an incident never occurs again.
He attested that the coaching staff was the source of the protocol.
Bond reportedly warned us, We’re not allowed to, around a week ago, according to our coaches.
In the wake of the controversy, Michigan fired an assistant coach and a member of the recruiting staff.
In the Big Ten title game, Michigan defeated Iowa 26-0 under Harbaugh’s leadership. On Monday, the Wolverines take on the Crimson Tide. With a trip to the national championship on the line, even though the issue seems to be behind them, Saban isn’t taking any chances.
Booker hesitated to talk about the new procedure with reporters, but when asked, he acknowledged that players aren’t allowed to watch game films on their own.
Booker stated, We are still approaching this game and our preparation as we would any other game. Whether it’s on our phone or in person in the room, we simply need to make sure we’re watching the movie. To finish, all we need to do is make sure we watch the movie, however many times we need to.
According to Bond, players were still putting in the required amount of film preparation.
Bond said of Alabama’s game preparation, It doesn’t alter at all. We still intend to see the movie. We will continue to put in the hours. We will still assess the defense and play the same way we would in a typical game.
Nor does it disturb him that there was any sign-stealing at all. On the field, football is still played.
I don’t even care about it. They still need to play us on the field at the end of the day. Even if you are aware of my path, you must ultimately keep me safe.
