Here, where even do I begin? I suppose one could begin by discussing a few positive aspects: Chris Godwin arrived late, but wide receiver Trey Palmer also displayed some talent—despite a huge blunder that we’ll discuss in a moment.
Four times did the Bucs turn the ball over: twice through the fault of quarterback Baker Mayfield, once from Rachaad White and once from Palmer after he stumbled after collecting a deep pass. In addition, the offense was largely ineffective, averaging two points per play on third down throughout the day and hardly ever reaching midfield. The run game was terrible; it kept hitting barriers up in the middle of the line, never quite getting back to its early-season level.
This was one of the worst games the offense has played this season. Although playcalling had a role in it (more on that in a moment), the players’ performance was just below average.
