Bill Belichick’s Unemployment as NFL Coach Tom Brady’s Reaction.
The NFL no longer has any openings for head coaches after the Washington Commanders chose to appoint Dan Quinn to their staff. As the most recent coaching cycle came to an end, many were surprised that Bill Belichick, the former coach of the New England Patriots, was unable to find employment, especially considering that eight teams hired head coaches throughout the cycle.
Belichick’s longtime quarterback and future Hall of Famer, Tom Brady, was among those who anticipated the coach would leave the Patriots and join a new team. Speaking on the subject in a recent Let’s Go! podcast episode, Brady expressed his surprise that Belichick was not hired.
I’m not aware of the requirements for selecting coaches. I have never participated in it. To be honest, I’m shocked that the best coach in history is unemployed. However, Brady stated, I’m startled by a lot of stuff in the NFL.
He continued, There are a lot of things that happen that don’t go precisely the way you believe they should go, for whatever reason.” Of the eight teams that made head coaching changes this offseason, Belichick only conducted interviews with the Atlanta Falcons.
Before Raheem Morris, the former defensive coordinator of the Los Angeles Rams under Sean McVay, was hired by the team, he had two meetings with the Falcons..
Not just Brady, but other former Patriots also expressed astonishment that Belichick was not hired. Julian Edelman, a former wide receiver for New England, criticized teams for passing on the 71-year-old, claiming their focus was not on winning.
