Players from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Super Bowl 58
Even though the Tampa Bay Bucs won’t be competing in the Super Bowl, there will still be some fans who watch with a sense of loyalty.
In addition to the competition between Kansas City and San Francisco to win the Lombardi Trophy, there is another prize at stake. At least one former Buccaneers player will take home a second Super Bowl ring regardless of the outcome.
On Sunday, there will be action involving six athletes who have resided in Tampa Bay at some point in their careers. While five are getting ready for the big game, another legend is perched atop Allegiant Stadium, attempting to win yet another ring.

Donovan Smith, OT
S. Mike Edwards
QB Blaine Gabbert and WR Justin Watson
Strangely enough, the shoe is now on the other foot because all four of those players were on the Buccaneers roster for Super Bowl 55. Additionally, since everything was done virtually in 2021, those athletes were able to experience what Super Bowl week is actually like.
Former Buccaneers players Logan Ryan and S. are on the 49ers roster for the Super Bowl
Logan Ryan is attempting to complete the trifecta, while the former Bucs players on the Chiefs team are vying for their second ring. But in 2020, he was not able to bring home a ring with Tampa Bay. Ryan didn’t sign with the Bucs until the following season, when Tom Brady enlisted his former colleague in an effort to win the Super Bowl twice in a row.
Ryan received both of his rings during his tenure with the New England Patriots. Former Bucs player John Lynch is attempting to win his second Super Bowl ring in his playing career. A second ring would be the icing on the cake for him,, given that he already has a Hall of Fame career and won one with Tampa Bay back in 2002.
Perhaps the most ardent supporter of the Bucs is Lynch,, more than any other former player participating in this year’s Super Bowl.
