Jeo Burrow was placed on trade
The head coach of the Cincinnati Bengals traded Jeo Burrow.
The Cincinnati Bengals lost assistant Rob Livingston to the Deion Sanders team this week in Colorado, but they have already appointed a replacement for Livingston as safety coach and made two other staff moves.
Following his appointment as Colorado’s defensive coordinator on Wednesday, Jordan Kovacs, who had served as the team’s assistant linebackers coach for the previous two seasons, took over Livingston’s position. Livingston had spent nine years working with the Bengals.
The Bengals also announced on Thursday that Brad Kragthorpe has been promoted to quarterbacks coach and that Justin Rascati, a former Vikings assistant, has been hired to serve as the team’s pass game coordinator. Dan Pitcher’s move to offensive coordinator created the opening.
In Cincinnati, Kovacs will begin his sixth season in April. He joined Marvin Lewis’ team in 2017 and stayed until Zac Taylor was brought on board in 2019. After spending 2021 as a defensive quality control coach, Kovacs—who appeared in 28 NFL games as a safety with the Miami Dolphins from 2013 to 2015—became a secondary/safeties coach for the last two seasons. He was a coach at the University of Michigan before as well.
Rascati was an offensive quality control coach for the Denver Broncos from 2019 to 2020 and most recently worked as an assistant offensive line coach for Minnesota.
Rascati worked as an assistant at the collegiate level for seven years, including as a head coach at the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga (2017–18), Tennessee Tech (2016), the University of Tennessee-Martin (2014–15), and Weber State (2012–13), before entering the NFL. In 2003, he participated in football at the University of Louisville. From 2004 to 2006, he played quarterback at James Madison University, where he won an FCS national championship during his debut season.
As an offensive coach, Kragthorpe joined Taylor’s first staff when he first joined the Bengals in 2019. He was the wide receivers coach’s assistant in 2021 and 2022 before switching to the assistant quarterbacks coach position last season.
The former quarterback worked as an offensive analyst at LSU for the 2018 season, assisting wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase and quarterback Joe Burrow, who is currently with the Bengals. After serving as a backup quarterback and kick returner at LSU and Idaho State, Kragthorpe started his coaching career at Utah State in 2016 and 2017.
