‘Everyone here wishes her well’: Patty Gasso responds on former OU ace Jordy Bahl’s season-ending injury
Former Oklahoma and current Nebraska pitcher Jordy Bahl revealed she’ll miss the remainder of the 2024 season with an ACL injury. Bahl suffered the injury during her debut with the Cornhuskers in the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge.
OU head coach Patty Gasso addressed the news of her former ace, who threw 24.2 scoreless innings in last year’s Women’s College World Series to assist the Sooners to their third consecutive title.
“It’s dreadful for anybody, honestly,” Gasso remarked. “And Jordy suffered through injuries as a freshman. You wish her well.
Gasso added the Sooners had scouts at the game who watched the accident and said it’s “quite incredible.” Bahl was able to walk around after coming down. Bahl reconnected with her former OU teammates in the airport while both teams were flying for the tournament.
Gasso said Bahl and the Sooners still have a “connection” from everything they experienced together and reminisced on Bahl celebrating OU’s 2023 title with the team by singing on stage at a local bar alongside OU superfan Toby Keith, who died at the age of 62 on Feb. 5.
“The last memory they had was singing on stage with Toby Keith,” Gasso added. “That’s something that they will cherish, especially now, forever.”
