Titans head coach Brian Callahan announced his departure.
Over the course of his six seasons as head coach, Vrabel guided the Titans to two postseason titles and a 54-45 record (545 win percentage). Later, the team made the announcement.
I told Mike Vrabel about my decision to change head coach earlier today, owner Amy Adams Strunk said in a statement on Tuesday. “This was the hardest choice I have ever made as controlling owner, as I informed Coach Vrabel. Mike has given the Tennessee Titans a lot, both on and off the field, and I appreciate that. His genuineness and commitment are evident to everyone who has met him, and he has been a pillar of the Nashville community. We hope the best for Mike, Jen, and the Vrabel family going forward.”
Vrabel’s demise was probably sealed in the last two seasons. The Titans were 7-10 and 6-11 in their last two seasons, missing the playoffs after going 41-23 in his first four combined seasons and making it to the AFC Championship Game in 2019.

Since they made it to the 2019 AFC championship game and lost to the Chiefs, the Titans have also not won a postseason game.
Despite earning the best postseason seed in the AFC, Tennessee was defeated at home by the Cincinnati Bengals in the divisional round of the 2021 playoffs, after losing to the Ravens in the 2020 wild-card round.
With a 7-3 record at the beginning of the 2022 season, the Titans lost seven straight games and were eliminated from the playoff chase.
The Jaguars won the AFC South because Ryan Tannehill was sidelined and the other Titans quarterbacks performed poorly.
