Kevin Durant Selects the NBA’s Best Player and Team
One day remains until the All-Star Game, and at Saturday’s media day, players from all around the league, including forward Kevin Durant of the Phoenix Suns, had plenty to say.
When determining which squad and player is the best so far for the 2023–24 season, Durant was requested to leave out the Suns:
“I feel like every week my best player, my top five, my goats, change every night,” he remarked.
“I think Minnesota [the Timberwolves] was playing excellent ball this past week, just before the break. The Los Angeles Clippers are having a terrific season. If anything, I think Kawhi Leonard of the Clippers is the best player I’ve ever seen.
At 36-17, the Clippers are currently good for third place in the Western Conference. They are only 0.5 games behind the 37-17 Oklahoma City Thunder and two games behind the leading Timberwolves (39-16).
The Suns are fifth in the Western Conference with a 33-22 record, not far behind. Six games have passed since the opening one.
Leonard is fourth in the NBA in terms of thefts per night with 1.7. In 34 minutes of play, he is averaging 24.1 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 3.7 assists.
