Just a few days have passed since the previous controversy involving MLB’s new uniforms surfaced at the beginning of spring training, and San Francisco’s picture day offered a visual representation of the most recent one. It turns out that the pants essentially leave little to the imagination, in addition to the jerseys’ shoddy appearance and feel.
Fielder Casey Schmitt is the sad victim of this specific issue. While Schmitt appeared to be posing innocently in a shot that NBC Sports Bay Area reporter Alex Pavlovic shared on his Instagram story, many fans pointed out that Schmitt’s privates were rather noticeable. Although it looks like Pavlovic deleted the photograph from his story, admirers snapped screenshots of the supporting documentation.

Although Fanatics has been making Nike’s MLB jerseys for four years, this is the first year that the uniforms the players are wearing have seen a discernible drop in quality. Nevertheless, fans have long been the target of criticism for a wide range of reasons. The Seattle Mariners released a video of catcher Cal Raleigh cracking jokes on social media, which is when fans first became aware of this problem. As Raleigh’s skinny jeans were the main talking point, very few people discussed the actual content of the film.
