Devin White, a perfect addition to this defense, would be the Green Bay Packers
Devin White, an upcoming free agent, is one of the guys that would fit into the new 4-3 defensive strategy that the Green Bay Packers are hoping to implement. Out of LSU, White was selected fifth overall in the 2019 NFL Draft.
He was a key player in Tampa Bay’s championship run and won a Super Bowl with them. Devin White has been a member of the Buccaneers throughout his whole NFL career. He’s only twenty-six.
He had 83 tackles, 2.5 sacks, two interceptions, and six pass deflections in his season-long stint with Tampa Bay. When it comes to White’s future with the ball club, Buccaneers general manager Jason Licht spoke with Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times, and the news is not good.
Licht stated to Stuard,
“No, we’re still deliberating over some of those other players. However, even if Devin accomplished a lot for us during his career, there are still some issues that need to be resolved.
It sounds unlikely that Tampa Bay will get him back from this. The Packers would have a fantastic chance to sign Devin White in free agency and add a seasoned player with positional knowledge.
Towards the end of the previous season, K.J. Britt replaced him in the starting lineup. It looks like White will be leaving the team in the next few weeks.
A former Pro Bowl player for the Green Bay Packers believes that adding Devin White to the team would be a great idea.
Mike Daniels, a former pro bowler for the Green Bay Packers, believes that adding White in free agency would be a huge benefit to defensive tackle Kenny Clark. He said the following to Freddie Boston of Lombardiavenue.com:
The Packers will now play 4-3. It would be better to start fitting Kenny Clark for his gold jacket if Devin White were to play beside Campbell.
His talent would help the defense, but the Packers only really need to be concerned about his 30.8 PPF-grade run defense this season. This season, Green Bay found it difficult to stop the run. It seems like something happened between him and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but his talent is something to bet on.
Perhaps White only needs a change of scenery to get things going in his favor once more. Given his talent, it would be shocking if a competitor didn’t take a chance on him. The Green Bay Packers would benefit from having someone like this on staff.
