According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, wide receiver Jerry Jeudy, a former standout for Alabama, was moved on Saturday from the Denver Broncos to the Cleveland Browns.
Trade: WR Jerry Jeudy will go to Cleveland in exchange for a 2024 fifth- and sixth-round draft pick, according to a deal reached by the Broncos and Browns today, according to Schefter. At the trade deadline of the previous season, Cleveland made a move for Jeudy. Now that the transaction has been completed, the Browns will finally receive him on Wednesday, when the new league season kicks off.
Three Crimson Tide players, including offensive tackle Jedrick Wills Jr., defensive lineman Dalvin Tomlinson, and maybe most importantly, fellow wide receiver Amari Cooper, will be on the Browns squad when Jeudy signs.
With an 11-6 record, the Browns had their best season since 2020. Throughout the season, Cleveland was beset with ailments, including season-ending injuries to quarterback Deshaun Watson and Pro Bowl running back Nick Chubb. Kevin Stefanski, the head coach, overcame these challenges to win the NFL Coach of the Year Award.
Jeudy, who was selected with the fifteenth overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, is still trying to establish himself as one of the league’s top pass-catchers. He had 54 receptions for 758 yards and two scores in the previous campaign. Despite missing two games in 2022, he set career highs in every stat category, so he went into this past season with high expectations.
Cooper, the fourth overall selection in the 2015 NFL Draft, just finished one of his greatest seasons and was selected for his fifth Pro Bowl. He caught 11 passes for 2 touchdowns on December 24 against the Houston Texans, setting a team record for receiving yards.
Jeudy might benefit from increased camaraderie and mentoring in a receiving room with a former Alabama great who is still in his prime if he joins. Eventually,
