    After acquiring Bryce Huff in free agency, the Philadelphia Eagles will probably be parting ways with one of their defensive ends from the previous campaign.

    The Philadelphia Eagles signed Bryce Huff to a record-breaking three-year, $51.1 million contract to start free agency, adding a vital piece to their defensive line. The Eagles’ acquisition of Huff very certainly indicates a deal involving Josh Sweat or Haason Reddick.

    The Eagles were reportedly getting trade calls for Sweat, who is in the last year of his contract, last weekend, according to a number of media sources. It is beyond Philadelphia’s means to swap both defensive linemen. However, one of them will go prior to the commencement of the regular season.

    Sweat went on social media and wrote, “I will miss you all,” in an Instagram remark. Following a rather disappointing 2023 campaign in which he recorded 43 combined tackles, 23 quarterback hits, seven tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles, the 26-year-old defensive end is back in action.

    The player who was selected in the fourth round in 2022 was unable to repeat his on-field performance of recording a career-high 11 sacks and 15 tackles for loss.

    Sweat has a $9 million 2024 salary cap charge, which might be too much for the Eagles to pay given that they just let go of Avonte Maddox, who had a comparable salary cap hit.

    The Eagles have openings to fill on the defensive end of the ball, so if they decide to move on from Sweat, they’ll probably aim for a few draft picks. It wouldn’t be shocking to see trade talk about Sweat pick up when the new league year gets underway on Wednesday.
