It was revealed at the beginning of 2024 that Kyrgios was collaborating with Hana Kuma, Naomi Osaka’s production business, to develop his own podcast. Five episodes of Good Trouble with Nick Kyrgios have been released thus far, and the guest list is full of celebrities.
Kyrgios is going to speak with a tennis player on his podcast for the first time, following appearances by actor Rainn Wilson, novelist Jay Shetty, renowned chef Gordon Ramsay, and businessman and entrepreneur Gary Vaynerchuk. It’s difficult to argue that Djokovic, the record 24-time Grand Slam champion, could have been a better first-round tennis guest for Good Trouble with Nick Kyrgios.
In addition, Kyrgios appears to be moving closer to returning to the field following surgery on his wrist and knee. Kyrgios has participated in just one tournament since the beginning of 2023; he played one match in Stuttgart in June of last year.
In a post on X on Thursday, Kyrgios hinted that a significant surprise would be made on Friday.
Novak Djokovic will be the next guest on Good Trouble. Tennis footage: next Tuesday! RETURNING TO COURT! On X, Kyrgios wrote.
At the Australian Open, Kyrgios spoke with Djokovic on the court.
Despite not participating in the Australian Open this year, Kyrgios remained extremely busy doing analysis for ESPN and Eurosport. The Australian, 28, also had the opportunity to interview someone on the court for the first time in his capacity as an interviewer.
During his quarterfinal encounter at the Australian Open against Taylor Fritz, Djokovic once went to Kyrgios, who was doing commentary, and sent him a kiss. Following his 7-6 (3) 4-6 6-2 6-3 victory over Fritz, Kyrgios appeared on the court to speak with the top player in the world.
Kyrgios began the interview by telling Djokovic that he had no idea he would be interviewing him on the court. He then questioned the Serb about his play and his victory over Fritz.
Yes, I do need a microphone. Thanks, dude. I’m glad to see you, dude. It’s wonderful to meet you. Although you look excellent in that booth, you look even better here.
Ideally, soon, along with a racquet as well. Yes, indeed! Nick is missed! Guys, get moving! Give him some affection. Yes, what was the subject of the question? Yes, indeed, what a dude…
His excellent tennis also caused me a lot of pain in the first few sets. I felt as though I was being choked from the back of the court by his closeness to the line and excellent serving.
I was on the defensive for most of the rallies. It was challenging to determine the ideal moment. While the sun was still out, it was really hot. Extremely emotionally and physically taxing.
A huge round of praise for Fritz for both this tournament and his fantastic performance today… He has incredible tennis skills.”
Kyrgios inquired about “a miracle tree” that would aid in Djokovic’s recovery.
Following knee surgery in January 2023, Kyrgios began his comeback in June. However, he only made one tournament appearance and one match before suffering a wrist injury that required more surgery.
In an attempt to be well and find a means to defeat Djokovic, Kyrgios playfully questioned the world No. 1 about the tree he embraces in the Royal Botanical Gardens during the interview.
“All right, let me show you the tree. You can’t inform anyone, though. It is quite a secret. Thus, your task is to remove your shoes, scale the tree to its summit, and then hang upside down for thirty-three minutes and three seconds from one of the highest branches. And you’re going to triumph overwhelmingly,” Djokovic retorted.
Rumors have been circulating for a few months now that Kyrgios might never play again. However, the Wimbledon finalist in 2022 put an end to those suspicions and assured his worried fans last year that he would return for more glory.
“To all of my millions of admirers worldwide, I suppose we just need to exercise patience. In August, Kyrgios posted an Instagram Story saying, “Trust me, I still have some fire left in the tank; my body just needs time to recover and get back.
“I’m still as driven as ever to work out, receive therapy, and get better. Everything is going well off the court. I hope to return and experience another season similar to my previous one.
It is still unclear whether Kyrgios would, as predicted, return during the clay season or during the grass season.
