The running backs coach and associate head coach for Alabama,e Robert Gillespi, is thrilled with Jam Miller’s development.
Gillespie described Miller as a diligent football player last week. “From a program perspective, he has completed all of the tasks we have given him. He’s spent the last two to three years as a standout young player on special teams. He is the type of person that simply puts on his hard hat and gets to work. Therefore, it’s great to see him take the initiative and speak up more. It’s encouraging to see more of his individuality emerge. Being in a leadership position requires you to take the initiative, which is difficult.
Miller, a Tyler, Texas native, joined the Crimson Tide as a four-star recruit in the class of 2022.
Miller is prepared to rule spring practice, but he has adapted to the pressure of leading the charge.
According to Gillespie, “He [Jam Miller] has a pretty wonderful relationship with the room.” Despite their youth, he and Justice continue to challenge one another. It’s been great to watch him progress. We’ve just had three practice days, so it will be interesting to watch how he performs after the break.
In 2023, Miller had 201 yards of total yardage and a score on 41 carries. In addition, he caught four receptions, one of which was for a score against Georgia in the SEC Championship Game.
The 5-foot-10, 211-pound player is a terrific compliment to Haynes and offers toughness, versatility, power, and quickness to a room.
Haynes is about to deliver Miller and him a one-two punch. The next season holds much excitement for Alabama’s backfield.
