It is said that the Cowboys are interested in two former Pro Bowl running backs.
According to reports, the Dallas Cowboys are considering two veteran possibilities to replace their injured running back. Among them is one with a very recognizable face.
Ezekiel Elliott and Dalvin Cook, two past Pro Bowlers, are being evaluated by the Cowboys in free agency, according to Michael Gehlken of Dallas Morning News.
Cowboys supporters are familiar with Elliott because he led the squad in rushing yards from 2016 to 2021. In 2022, Tony Pollard overtook him as the Cowboys’ leading rusher. Since then, Pollard and an AFC team have inked a long-term contract.
The New England Patriots provided Elliott with a temporary home during the previous season. During his 17 games of action, he ran for 642 yards and 3 touchdowns on 184 carries. But during free agency, the Patriots decided to take a chance on a younger, less experienced running back.
Like Elliott, Cook had recently left a long-term position with the Minnesota Vikings prior to the start of the previous campaign. However, Cook’s tenure was considerably more turbulent after leaving Minneapolis for a year.
Cook joined the New York Jets for the 2023 season. Late in the season, he finally made his move and became enamored with the Baltimore Ravens for the postseason.
Cook ran for 214 yards and no touchdowns on 67 carries in 15 games with the Jets. Cook only saw action in one Ravens postseason game, making eight rushes for 23 yards.
