Ty Simpson Alabama QB Says that he is Leaving due to……
TUSCALOOSA, Alabama — Jase McClellan, a running back at Alabama, has decided to enter the NFL Draft instead of using his final year of eligibility.
He sent a statement on Instagram to formally announce the news.
McClellan wrote on Instagram, “I have been blessed with the opportunity to play for The University of Alabama for the last four years.” This would not be conceivable if God hadn’t guided me on this journey, through all the highs and lows. I am incredibly appreciative of all the opportunities and benefits he has provided me with throughout my life to get me to this point.”
McClellan finally onto the field as a senior in 2023 after several injury-plagued seasons in Tuscaloosa, and he made the most of it. McClellan led the Crimson Tide in carries as well as rushing yards with 890 yards and eight touchdowns on 180 carries.
Despite having played four seasons at Alabama and being a senior, he had one year of eligibility left because of COVID, which he chose not to use.
Jam Miller and Justice Haynes are the next in line to lead the Crimson Tide backfield in 2024 after McClellan left for the NFL and Roydell Williams entered the transfer portal.
As the season went on, Miller, a sophomore, saw his role grow, while Haynes, a five-star rookie, saw his workload increase during the Rose Bowl, where he averaged about nine yards per carry with his four touches.
Despite McClellan’s exit, the Alabama running back group appears to be in fine condition.
