Breaking News: New Orleans Saints to announce another new recruit

Safety of Free Agents In the upcoming weeks, Quandre Diggs is likely to be passed over and may end up signing with an unexpected NFC contender.

One of the most gifted free agent safety classes in recent memory was the 2024 group; nevertheless, talented starters like Quandre Diggs were overshadowed by the surge of high-impact players. Diggs was a poor performer in 2023 and entered the free agent market at the wrong moment. The Texas product, who started every game in the season, concluded with a meager 55.1 PFF grade, one interception, 95 tackles, and one tackle-for-loss.

After such a disappointing campaign, Quandre Diggs may not find a free agent home as he approaches his thirtyth birthday. It’s important to note, though, that his 2023 performance does not accurately represent the player he was in the past. From 2020 to 2022, Diggs appeared in three consecutive Pro Bowls, and his film indicates that he was a worthy candidate for each one.

Quandre Diggs is a free agent who may be a good, low-risk, medium-reward addition for the right team, but it doesn’t seem like any teams are interested in signing him. The New Orleans Saints ought to be that team, claims Dan Pizzuta of The 33rd Team.

The New Orleans Saints are linked to free agent Quandre Diggs.

Quandre Diggs would have made sense to sign with the Saints as a free agent for a number of reasons. Tyrann Mathieu is much better on the line of scrimmage at this stage in his career, so the team needs a deep safety.

If New Orleans hopes to win the NFC South, they will need to find a new starting safety now that Marcus Maye is out of the picture.

The Saints only have enough cap space to sign Quandre Diggs, even though Justin Simmons is the best safe player available as a free agent.

The team cannot afford a major free agent after avoiding a rebuild for years. Diggs may be finished, but perhaps he might be at his best under a scheme that fits him better.

Given that he most likely won’t cost much, New Orleans ought to sign him and see how much more he has to give.

Of course, there are many teams that could utilize a safety, and Pizzuta’s post is purely conjecture.

While Quandre Diggs may not be a guy who can win your games on his own, the free agent is a fantastic choice for a one-year, prove-it contract with a cheap salary.
