“With immediate effect,” Boris Becker has resigned from his position as Holger Rune’s head coach. The moment Becker was introduced as Rune’s coach back in October, his performance took off. The German had only stated a month before that he would teach Rune for the foreseeable future, but on Tuesday, the couple announced their separation on social media.

After a challenging second half of his 2023 season, Rune resorted to the six-time Grand Slam winner in October on a trial basis and observed an immediate improvement in his play.The 20-year-old qualified for the coveted ATP Finals at the end of the season by making it to the final eight of the Paris Masters and the semi-finals of the Swiss Indoors.
