Positive Update: Tennessee welcomes another All-Star from the transfer portal.

Significant acquisition: Darlinstone Dubar joins Tennessee via the transfer portal.

Darlinstone Dubar was acquired by Tennessee this afternoon via the transfer portal from Hofstra, signaling a major commitment. In his third year on the squad, the 6-8 wing scored 17.8 points per game on average for Hofstra.

Dubar shared the information on social media.

Dubar spent one season as an Iowa State student before moving to Hofstra. As a graduate transfer, he will be qualified to play for the Vols for one season.

The Charlotte native will help Rick Barnes replace a lot of offense in the upcoming campaign as he attempts to replace All-American guard Dalton Knecht. Barnes will also need to start in lieu of Santiago Vescovi, Josiah-Jordan James, Jonas Aidoo, and possibly Tobe Awaka. Both Awaka and Aidoo are on the transfer portal, although Awaka might return after Aidoo arrives.

In the two seasons prior, Dubar’s three-point percentage stood at 40%. He added 6.8 rebounds, 0.9 blocks, and 1.2 steals per game this season. He provides some much-needed length to a team that is in dire need of shooting.

Dubar scored 20 points or more in 12 games and 25 points or more in 4 last season.

Dubar made an official visit to Tennessee over the weekend. He was accompanied by guard Cade Tyson, who is transferring from Belmont and planning to visit North Carolina the following weekend.

If Dubar signed with Tennessee, the Volunteers would currently have five scholarships available. Over the coming few weeks, expect more and more transfer portal news, as Tennessee still needs help at nearly every position.
