Wow!: As Swinney gives update on Clemson QB, Cade Klubnik
Dabo Swinney is certain that his quarterback will be able to lead Clemson in 2024.
After the spring game, Cade Klubnik was viewed with suspicion—a game that never really tells you where a team or person is. Swinney is emphasizing that the Texas native is moving forward, even though the sample size didn’t reveal much that day.
During her appearance on ACC PM on the ACC Network, Swinney was questioned about Klubnik’s areas of improvement. The list was quite lengthy.
“Everything. He was having a great spring. This season, we had many outstanding plays down the field because of his accuracy.
springtime. He seemed to have a great rapport with our core players—tight ends, receivers, and running backs, in particular. Just total control over our attacking actions,” Swinney remarked.
The previous season focused on Klubnik’s education. He had taken over the starting job for the first time that year, and there were some difficulties. The first two games of the season were marred by errors, including interceptions.
However, Swinney was most irritated by the fumbles. He thinks Klubnik has figured it out, and it became clear toward the end of the season. Clemson ended their winning run of five games with a 7–7, 81-yard drive to win the Gator Bowl.
truly has improved over the previous year. threw fewer interceptions, which is a plus, but we turn the ball over far too frequently. To be a first-year starter means that he took too many sacks and had too many turnovers. This young person possesses exceptional skills. I think the game slowed down for him, but it’s still pleasant to play,” Swinney added.
Klubnik has a strong supporting group that he has a rapport with going into 2024. The receiving corps now has depth, but the synergy with tight end Jake Briningstool and running back Phil Mafah is a given.
Klubnik and Swinney are thrilled to hear that, as they believe he will lead the offense to a significant improvement.
It’s going to be an incredible year for him once we have everything figured out. He will only become better and better, in my opinion.
