SAD NEWS: Hannah Stuelke said that she will be leaving her position as a star basketball player because of…
Hawkeye supporters were curious as to why outstanding sophomore Hannah Stuelke of the Iowa women’s basketball team did not play in the second half of the team’s NCAA Tournament victory over Holy Cross on Saturday.
Following the game, Lisa Bluder, the Iowa coach, gave ESPN’s Holly Rowe the explanation.
Rowe tweeted: “I just spoke with Coach Lisa Bluder of @IowaWBB about why Hannah Stuelke wasn’t there in the second half. “They can give her Monday to recover because she didn’t feel well and we wouldn’t use her if we didn’t have to,” the huge lead said.

Later, Stuelke revealed that she was suffering from migraines.
She admitted, “I wasn’t feeling well at half.” “Migraines alone.
“I don’t think we really needed me to play when we play again in two days because I think we had the game under control.”
Stuelke went on to say she doesn’t think the problem will keep her from competing in the next round. “Without a doubt,” she replied.
That’s it, then. Even with Stuelke sitting on the bench due to illness, the Hawkeyes still had enough firepower to defeat Holy Cross.
It seems like there is nothing serious to be concerned about, and Stuelke should be fine to play against the winner of West Virginia-Princeton on Monday in the second round.
