Departure: Michigan Football loses Star DJ Waller Jr to Transfer Portal After Spring Game
Sherrone Moore and the Wolverines, who won last season’s national title, wrapped up spring football over the weekend. As expected, the storied Big Ten program is now having to deal with roster turnover due to the transfer portal.
Second-year defensive back DJ Waller Jr. has entered the portal, per multiple reports. Waller appeared in 11 games for the Wolverines during their championship season. The three-star recruit out of Youngstown, Ohio, had 12 tackles and one pass breakup.
Waller was competing for Michigan’s No. 2 CB job, but clearly got some bad news after spring evaluations. Moore, meanwhile, was highly complimentary of the former Wolverine.
“That kid’s got immense talent to be as good as anybody. … He’s got length, he’s got speed, he’s got athleticism. He’s fearless. He’ll tackle, he will go make a play on the ball. He’s everything you want in a corner,” Moore said about Hill, via Wolverines Wire. “So he’s just had a heck of a spring.”
It sounds like another college football program will get a promising young athlete in DJ Waller Jr. It’s going to be interesting to see where he ends up.
