Harris, the only five-star transfer on this list, had a less than ideal experience in Baton Rouge compared to his prior stop at College Station. The 6-foot, 190-pound cornerback for the Tigers had just five appearances, including three starts, before sitting out the final seven games for unknown reasons.
According to PFF College, he played 217 defensive snaps, during which he broke up one pass and gave up six catches on 13 targets for 88 yards and two scores.
Though Harris re-entered the transfer portal this summer and ultimately ended up at UTSA, he still has time to turn things around for the better at a new school.
In his limited five games with the Aggies, Harris—a former five-star prospect in the 2022 recruiting cycle—made 14 total tackles and intercepted three passes. After that, he transferred before the 2023 campaign began, and he only managed seven tackles and two pass breakups in five more games with the LSU Tigers. In December, he made another entry on the transfer site.
With a 97 rating from 247Sports, Harris was ranked as the eighth player in Texas and the seventh overall cornerback while playing high school football at Houston (Texas) North Shore.
Since the end of the season, cornerbacks Kam Alexander, Syrus Dumas, Xavier Spencer, and Dywan Griffin have all entered the transfer portal, causing significant changes to the UTSA football team’s defensive backfield. Since then, Alexander has moved to Oregon.
According to On3.com, there was speculation that Harris may return to Texas A&M following the Aggies’ coaching change. Mike Elko, the new head coach, was the defensive coordinator at College Station when Harris committed in 2022, and he was still there when the Aggies held their recruiting campaign.
