SAD NEWS: With Alabama’s head coach Kalen DeBoer departing,…
Before Alabama’s first season began, Kalen DeBoer was quite open about his choices for the starting lineup and depth chart.
Although a new era has begun, Alabama remains the same. Nick Saban, who is now retired, left behind a fantastic roster that DeBoer most likely kept longer than expected.
That is the result of being a strong head coach who just made it to the national championship game.
In the podcast hosted by Ryen Russillo, DeBoer stated, “Yeah, that’s a pretty fair question.” “I believe you understand that we will always be available. Saying “blank slate” could be a bit excessive, in my opinion. We do, however, I believe, have an open mind despite these preconceived notions and assumptions. Though I believe that we’ve been able to simply gel and put the roster together, you know, you hear things and when you talk to people, whether it’s the players and you kind of understand maybe what their role was before, what they’re looking for maybe where guys were a little frustrated.
“Yes, there are a few distinct breaks at various points. Particularly, where there are some older guys whose positions on the depth chart are fairly obvious and clear from their experiences, and where there are some gaps where some younger guys have to fill in roles and take advantage of opportunities that they might not have had in many other programs.
Alabama still boasts the second-best class overall in the Class of 2024 under DeBoer. Although many of them signed with Saban initially, the retention rate remains high.
Ten athletes from Alabama entered the transfer portal, but 34 players eventually left. The Crimson Tide did, however, pick up three four-star ratings despite losing two five-stars.
In addition to some new hires and veterans from other schools, there are veterans on staff at DeBoer.
