Kevin Stefanski head coach of cleveland browns just announced his departure due to…..
After Harrison Bryant departed the team on Wednesday, the Cleveland Browns signed Giovanni Ricci, a former tight end for the Carolina Panthers, to rapidly fill the void.
Ricci is being brought in by the Browns mainly to provide blocking. His statistics support that. Ricci was once labeled as a fullback but has only caught 9 passes for 102 yards in his career. The former All-MAC selection was not selected in 2020, but he was able to find a place with the Panthers. During his three NFL seasons, Ricci has made 36 appearances, including four starts.
Cleveland had to bridge the void left by Bryant’s exit. In 2020, Bryant was selected by the Browns in the fourth round. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, his contract with the Las Vegas Raiders is approximately $3.25 million with a $4 million maximum value. In 65 career games, Bryant has 89 receptions for 791 yards and 10 touchdowns.
Even though Bryant only had 13 receptions for 81 yards and three touchdowns the previous season, the team still needed depth behind Pro Bowler David Njoku.
Along with Njoku, seasoned tight end Jordan Akins, and January signing Zaire Mitchell-Paden to a reserve/future contract, Ricci rounds out the tight end group.
