BREAKING NEWS: Detroit Lion Star,is Back…..
Throughout the draft, the Lions selected five rookies. The organizers of the 2024 competition have added 15 undrafted players to that roster. Detroit signed the following rookie free agents:
Among undrafted rookies, Williams obtained one of the biggest guarantees in the league. The 5-9 speedster signed a $15K signing bonus on top of a $225K fixed base contract, according to Aaron Wilson of KPRC2. Although Williams started his collegiate career as a quarterback, he has become an important part of the Fighting Illini’s passing attack during the last three seasons. The 180-pound receiver caught 82 passes in 2022 and 2023, accumulating 1,055 yards and five touchdowns in 2023—a career high.
Michael Badgley was the kicker for the Lions at the end of the 2023 season; he was re-signed earlier this offseason. The 28-year-old was Detroit’s lone kicker when he arrived on Friday, but Turner will provide him competition in the offseason. During his first four seasons at Louisville, the latter converted 79.7% of his field goals. With the Wolverines in 2023, that percentage increased to 85.7%, as Turner made all but one of his extra point kicks.
Chambers changed jobs halfway through his time in college, just like Williams did. Initially, he was a running back for the Buckeyes, albeit he only saw 28 carries in the 2018 and 2019 seasons. Playing time rose once Chambers moved to linebacker, and over the last three seasons, he has increased his overall number of tackles with every season. The 6-1, 220-pound player totaled 208 stops, three sacks, and four interceptions; in Detroit, he hopes to convert that output into at least a special teams opportunity.
