Police say Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott…
A Dallas police official informed CNN on Friday that Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott will not be charged after a woman accused him of sexual assault for an alleged event in 2017.
The police statement states, “An investigation was conducted, and the case is closed.” “Detectors found insufficient evidence to establish the commission of an offense.”
Victoria Shores and her attorneys filed a civil lawsuit in March, claiming that she was sexually assaulted by Prescott on or about February 2, 2017, while he was driving a black SUV that was on its way to a strip club in the Dallas area.
According to the complaint, Prescott exposed himself to her and then allegedly used physical force to rape her after he made approaches and she rejected them.
Prescott filed a lawsuit in Collin County, Texas, a few days before she filed her March complaint, claiming she was attempting to extract $100 million from him. In April, Shores filed a countersuit in response to Prescott’s.
Police say Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott will not be prosecuted for an alleged 2017 sexual assault.
Levi McCathern, one of Prescott’s attorneys, expressed gratitude to the Dallas County District Attorney’s office and the Dallas Police Department “for their thorough investigation” into the alleged incident.
“As we all anticipated, they conducted a thorough investigation into the facts and turned up no evidence to sustain a criminal prosecution. McCathern stated in a statement, “We are certain that at the conclusion of law enforcement’s investigation into the extortion case, they will find the accuser and her attorneys just as guilty as Dak is innocent.
“He wouldn’t ever hit a woman. Seven years after the purported incidents, these fraudulent claims were raised for one reason and one reason only: to enrich the accuser and her legal team. Their actions are disrespectful to every genuine sexual assault survivor.
“Unfortunately, it takes victims a while to come out, which makes prosecuting these cases very difficult, so this is in no way an exoneration of Mr. Prescott,” wrote Yoel Zehaie, one of Shores’ attorneys, in response to the decision not to press charges against Prescott.
The 30-year-old is the target of a counterclaim lawsuit that Shores’ legal team plans to pursue, according to her attorneys.
According to a statement, “We are moving forward with our counterclaims, despite Levi Mccathern’s attempts to stop us from going to court, including his attempt to direct the Dallas Cowboys’ law enforcement to pursue us, i.e. prosper.”
The woman’s attorneys claimed to have “been begging” Prescott’s attorneys to settle on a date for court.
McCathern has been contacted by CNN to provide commentary on the woman’s counterclaim.
