This offseason, the Philadelphia Eagles made a trade to acquire a backup quarterback. During OTAs, the former starter and first-round choice of the Pittsburgh Steelers is making an impression on NFL beat writers. Before training camp, he might be inspiring quarterback Jalen Hurts of the Eagles.
QB1 for the Philadelphia Eagles is Jalen Hurts.
Hurts’ employment is not in danger of ending. In fact, he passed for more passing yards in the previous season than he did in 2022, and he came very close to winning the NFL MVP award in 2022. Hurts did, however, throw nine more interceptions in 2023 than he did in 2022.
At QB2, the Eagles got better.
When the Eagles allowed Marcus Mariota to sign a free agent contract with the Washington Commanders this offseason, they enhanced their backup quarterback situation. Kenny Pickett, a former starting quarterback with the Steelers, was traded to the Eagles. Following the signing of veteran quarterback Russell Wilson by the Steelers in March, Pickett was prepared for a new residence.
