GOOD NEWS: A star for the Kansas City Chiefs has returned.
According to an ESPN article on Monday, Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice, a second-year player, will participate in all of the team’s voluntary offseason activities even though he is embroiled in legal disputes stemming from two separate offseason events.
On Monday, the Chiefs’ organized team activities, which comprise both rookies and veterans, will commence in Phase 3.
Rice, 24, is accused of attacking a photojournalist at a Dallas nightclub earlier this month. The photographer was sent to the hospital as their injuries did not pose a threat to their lives.
Raised in the Dallas area, the SMU wide receiver was already having problems in the city after getting involved in a six-car accident on March 30. A few days later, Rice turned himself in to the authorities. He is charged with one case of aggravated assault, six counts of crashes resulting in injuries, and one count of collision involving serious bodily injury.
Among the seven injured, at least one mother experienced “serious physical harm,” while another was left stuck on the highway with her 4-year-old son for around five hours after the event.
The Chiefs are ready for a ban of several games for Rice, per a recent ESPN article. In both cases, the league and the team are waiting on the outcome of the legal proceedings.
