    CNN —

Four snaps into his New York Jets debut, Aaron Rodgers suffered a season-ending Achilles injury. He gave fans an update, saying that his operation went well.

The 39-year-old suffered a complete rupture of his left Achilles tendon, much to the dismay of NFL fans, after being sacked by Buffalo Bills edge rusher Leonard Floyd during the Monday Night Football game.

“Today’s surgery went really well. “I appreciate all of the love, prayers, and support that I have received,” Rodgers wrote on Thursday on Instagram.

Thanking Dr. Neal ElAttrache and his team for “starting [him] on the road to recovery,” Rodgers also expressed gratitude.

Fans of the Jets will be pleased to hear this news, as they will be hoping that Aaron Rodgers can heal quickly in time for the NFL season in 2019.

Those in the Jets organization who think Rodgers will return next season have complimented his mentality after taking the crushing blow.

On the question of whether Aaron Rodgers would return to football, Nathaniel Hackett, the offensive coordinator for the Jets, was unwavering.

Hackett responded to reporters, “Oh, yeah.” “Good luck to anyone who tries to convince Aaron to change his mind about anything once he gets set on something.”

Robert Saleh, the head coach of the Jets, agreed.

“If this is how he’s going to go out, I’d be shocked,” Saleh remarked to the media on Wednesday. “It will be the last thing I talk to him about; he’s working through a lot of mental issues that he needs to address.”

Not just the New York coaching staff, but also Rodgers’ colleagues on the Jets, have expressed optimism about his recuperation. Rodgers is a four-time MVP.

Jets center Connor McGovern said on Wednesday, “I know he’s in surgery here soon, and he’s going to attack this rehab, and I think he’ll probably heal faster than anyone has ever seen someone come back from Achilles.”

Zach Wilson, 24, will now be expected to shoulder the bulk of the quarterback load for the New York Jets.

Although Wilson has faced criticism in the past for his subpar performances while wearing the Jets uniform, he claims that being around Rodgers has made him “absolutely” better.

“From his footwork to the coaching tips he has given us, I feel like I’ve been trying to copy everything he’s doing,” Wilson remarked. “He’s exceeded our expectations as a quarterback with his outstanding performance.”

The Jets have the opportunity to open their season with a 2-0 record when they play the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday in Texas.
