The Detroit Pistons are taking a cue from their NFL counterparts with their recent hiring decisions. According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the Pistons have brought on Kevin Burleson as an assistant coach under head coach JB Bickerstaff. Burleson previously served as head coach of the Houston Rockets’ G-League team for the past two seasons and has held assistant coaching positions with the Memphis Grizzlies and Minnesota Timberwolves.
Kevin Burleson, who had a brief NBA playing career with the then-Charlotte Bobcats, is the older brother of former NFL receiver Nate Burleson. Nate, who played for the Detroit Lions from 2010-13, expressed his excitement about his brother’s new role, highlighting that another Burleson has now joined the Detroit sports scene.
