Utah Tech Golfer Jenna Anderson Earns Weekly Honors After Impressive Performance at Wigwam.
In an exciting display of skill and determination on the golf course, Utah Tech’s Jenna Anderson has been recognized as the Jersey Mike’s A Sub Above Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Women’s Golfer of the Week for her exceptional performance in the tournament held through Wednesday, February 5. This accolade is a testament to her hard work and dedication to the sport, marking a significant achievement in her collegiate golfing career.

Jenna Anderson, who is currently a junior at Utah Tech, showcased her talent during the Wigwam Preview, which served as the opening tournament for the spring season. Anderson finished the competition with a remarkable solo second-place finish, posting a final score of 2-over-par. Her impressive round of play consisted of scores of 71 in the first and second rounds, followed by a 76 in the final round, resulting in an overall tally of 218. This score is particularly noteworthy as it stands as her personal best for a 54-hole tournament throughout her collegiate career. Additionally, it is the third-lowest score ever recorded by a Trailblazer this season, reinforcing her status as one of the standout players on the team.
Throughout the tournament, Anderson demonstrated her ability to perform under pressure, particularly in the opening round. She was one of only two golfers in a competitive field to finish with a score under par in the first round, achieving an impressive 1-under-par 71. During this round, she showcased her prowess with the putter by sinking three birdies while managing to maintain a steady game with 14 pars. This solid performance not only placed her in a favorable position on the leaderboard but also reflected her commitment to excellence in every aspect of her game.

In the second round, Anderson continued to build on her success. She maintained her momentum with another 71, which included an impressive finish where she birdied four of her final six holes. This late surge not only solidified her lead but also positioned her three shots ahead of the competition as she entered the final round. This performance was a clear indication of her ability to stay focused and execute her strategy effectively, even as the pressure intensified.
As the tournament progressed into the final round, Anderson faced the challenge of maintaining her lead against a field of determined competitors. However, she rose to the occasion, tallying four additional birdies during the concluding round. Although her final score of 76 represented a slight increase, her overall performance throughout the tournament was exemplary and pivotal in guiding the Utah Tech Trailblazers to a tie for the runner-up spot in the team standings.
