Report: Bayern Munich and ‘practically all top clubs in Europe’ competing to sign 16-year-old Kennet Eichhorn
A teenager who regularly starts at a club is notable event. A 16-year-old who regularly starts for one of the teams vying to be promoted to the Bundesliga is something else. Ergo everybody looked over to Hertha Berlin as Kennet Eichhorn, a product of Hertha Berlin’s illustrious academy, suddenly got integrated into the first and started gathering minutes as the 2025/26 season began. He impressed with his technique and decision making, but there was still the expectation that his game time would dwindle over time and that he would still need time to truly find himself in this team. How vital could a 16-year-old end up becoming for this team?
A few months later, Eichhorn has become a nearly undroppable starter, with Hertha’s sudden uptick in form- 10 wins in the last 12 matches at the time of writing- neatly aligning with the time he fully broke into the starting lineup. Not only that, but he became the youngest goalscorer in the history of the DFB Pokal in die Blauweißen’s recent 6-1 win over Kaiserslautern.
This consistent excellence and outstanding achievements have truly put clubs all around Europe on red alert, as Bild claims, as captured by @iMiaSanMia, the youngster is being tracked by a lot of big clubs:
Bayern and practically all top clubs in Germany and in Europe are lining up to sign Hertha BSC’s talented midfielder Kennet Eichhorn (16), who yesterday became the youngest goal scorer in the history of the DFB Pokal. Club scouts are watching him almost every game and have been impressed with his incredible physical and technical maturity for his young age. Hertha are currently considering extending Eichhorn’s contract by another year with improved terms. They’re hoping to convince him with a guaranteed starting position and a leadership role in the team. The capital club also wants to increase his release clause from the current €10-12m to €20m.
All this fuss about a child that does not turn 17 until July. It goes to show just how good Eichhorn is playing at the moment. Given Bayern’s insistence on getting the best German players (or players for the future, they will want to get him. But they will need to hope this potential pursuit will turn out better than the one for Florian Wirtz.
