Journalist Lothar Matthaus gives Nico Schlotterbeck some advice to consider
Nico Schlotterbeck is under contract with Borussia Dortmund until summer 2027. BVB would like to extend his contract as soon as possible, but the 25-year-old is hesitating with his decision.

“Dortmund have great potential, but they need to learn from their mistakes to get closer to Bayern Munich,” Lothar Matthaus wrote in his Sky column. “With Guirassy, Adeyemi, Felix Nmecha, Nico Schlotterbeck and Gregor Kobel in goal, they have five players who are world class or close to it, and the rest of the team isn’t bad either.”
He continued: “BVB are third in the league and are looking promising in the Champions League and the cup. Schlotterbeck has worked hard at Borussia and is valued.”
“Sure, he could earn more elsewhere, but in Dortmund he’s captain, and BVB is an exciting project. If I were him, I would think very carefully about whether to leave the club or stay,” added the Sky expert.
