Andrew Quarless Arrested for Publicly Discharging a Gun: Updates and Response TIM DANIELS
Following an altercation, Green Bay Packers tight end Andrew Quarless fired a revolver twice into the ground, leading to his arrest in South Beach early on Saturday morning.
According to Tim Elfrink of the Miami New Times, the incident on Independence Day happened at approximately 5:30 a.m. Ernesto Rodriguez, a spokesman for Miami Beach Police Department, verified the arrest, which happened after Quarless allegedly tried to leave the scene.
More information on the incident was provided by Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk:
Quarless pulled out the revolver and fired two rounds, one of which went straight up into the sky, according to the police report. Quarless fired the rounds “in an attempt to emphasise his power and manhood,” one of the ladies subsequently told police.
Police were contacted by the parking valet. Quarless allegedly tried to conceal the rifle in a potted plant after exiting the Porsche, according to the police report. Officers located the firearm and compared it to the shells they discovered at the garage.
The New Times reports that he was formally accused of firing a gun in public.
The Packers issued the following statement regarding the situation: “We are aware of the matter…and are in the process of obtaining more information,” according to ESPN’s Jason Wilde.
“I spoke with Andrew. According to Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, Packers head coach Mike McCarthy stated on July 29 that “He was here today.””After his encounter, we had a lengthy discussion. It is a court proceeding. He erred in judgement. Both he and I are dissatisfied. We’re addressing his error, which he made.”
Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com revealed on July 6 that the Packers intend to hold onto Quarless and won’t let him go.
About to begin his sixth season with the Packers, Quarless is getting ready. In 55 career games, the Penn State graduate has recorded 85 catches for 909 yards and six scores. This autumn, he was hoping for a bigger part in the offence.
According to ESPN’s Rob Demovsky, ace quarterback Aaron Rodgers of the Packers expressed his admiration for his development during the team’s minicamp last month:
Andrew seems to have had a fantastic camp. He advanced significantly the previous year. There aren’t enough targets for him, but if he continues to play at his current level—that is, quickly, with great route details, and as one of the best players who has demonstrated his abilities during the offseason program—I think he will succeed.
Now, while the legal matter is resolved, any advancement he has made towards being a more significant player for Green Bay is put on pause. In the event that Quarless is forced to miss time due to the incident, Richard Rodgers is the next player on the depth chart.
