A true freshman defensive lineman has found a new home after leaving the South Carolina football programme in the 2023 season.
The South Carolina Gamecocks have lost seventeen players via the transfer site since the end of the 2023 regular season. Freshman defensive lineman Xzavier McLeod is another talent who hasn’t received as much attention because he previously left Shane Beamer’s programme in the middle of the 2023 season.
After McLeod left, there were rumours that he wanted to redshirt during a bad season and other random topics. However, McLeod’s departure puts Carolina in a difficult situation because they don’t have any young, talented players on the interior defensive line. Furthermore, Xzavier, a native of Palmetto State, committed to the Georgia Bulldogs on Friday afternoon, meaning the Gamecocks will probably have to play them once or twice in the upcoming seasons.
McLeod made four game appearances in 2023; in the second week against the Furman Paladins, he recorded one solo tackle, one pass deflecton, and one interception. By 2024, he will have four more years to be eligible.
