The head coach of the New York Giants announced his resignation.
The NY Giants are back on the pitch preparing for the Green Bay Packers on Monday night football after taking a week off due to their bye. This squad is finally getting fit, and quarterback Tyrod Taylor is a big name who could finally make his long-awaited comeback.
Since sustaining a severe rib injury against the New York Jets, Taylor has been out. Following a stint on injured reserve, Taylor might now start in the primetime game. Will Brian Daboll, though, side with him over Tommy DeVito?
Many claim that Taylor offers the Giants, who are 4-8 on the season, their greatest chance of winning. Veteran quarterback Taylor has shown strength while leading this team’s offence at times. But since taking over as the starter, DeVito’s impressive play has won over many hearts in New York and New Jersey.
Leading the offence onto the field, DeVito is 2-1. The Giants had won consecutive games over the Commanders and Patriots, but his defeat came in a cruel performance against the Cowboys. DeVito tossed for 246 yards and three touchdowns in the win over Washington. Then he passed for 191 yards and a touchdown against New England.
DeVito’s concern is that he may be planning to play with the G-Men in the future. He wants to continue demonstrating to Joe Schoen his ability to be a reliable QB2 in 2024 and beyond. After this season, Taylor will be a free agent, and it is anticipated that he will sign a contract this offseason. Prior to Week 14, Coach Dabes must make a decision, but it would seem prudent to continue with DeVito.
