The Eagles may bench important players against the Giants.
When asked if he intended to bench any of his star players for Sunday’s regular-season finale against the New York Giants, Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni startled reporters on Monday.
He responded, “Yeah, yeah, that’s a valid question.” “We always strive to consider all options, and we consider those options constantly. To win this game, we’re willing to go above and beyond. But even so, we take into account what you’re saying since we evaluate all those other factors.”
The Eagles want to win the NFC East championship two years in a row. But the Eagles also need the Cowboys to lose to the Washington Commanders in a game that is scheduled to take place at the same time as the Giants-Eagles game in order to win.
Sirianni went on, “I’m not saying yes to you; I’m not saying no.” “We’ll consider every angle of that. So far, our main topic of conversation has been about our current preparation for the Giants game.”
Sirianni will be admitting that the Commanders have no chance against the Cowboys, who would win Sunday and secure the NFC East title, if he decides to bench some of his starting players. And that’s not only a dangerous strategy to adopt but also a bad one, particularly in light of the Eagles’ loss to the Arizona Cardinals last week.
It won’t matter to the Giants, who have lost 13 of their previous 16 regular-season and postseason encounters with the Eagles; they will continue with their regular activities as they get ready for their regular-season finale in 2023.
