The newest police cadet in Minnetonka is Justin Johnson, a former NFL player.
A former Seattle Seahawks player has joined the Minnetonka Police Department as its newest cadet.
After playing tight end with the Seattle Seahawks for just over two years as well as for the USFL’s New Orleans Breakers, Justin Johnson is currently preparing to become a full-time police officer in the west metro.
After spending more than two years in Minnesota, the native of Alabama completed his bachelor’s degree in criminology at Mississippi State, where he also played college football. He is currently enrolled in Hennepin Technical College’s police certificate programme.
According to the City of Minnetonka, he is “gaining on-the-job experience and mentorship” in Minnetonka as part of his studies and will be qualified for a full-time officer post in the summer of 2024.
Johnson stated in a city press release, “I am interested in law enforcement because I am all about people and service. Serving others without expecting anything in return is my life’s work.
“My goal is to become the best officer I can be by learning from the police cadet programme. Every day I get to wear this uniform, I want to learn something new about this profession and myself,” he continued.
