A new three-round mock draft: Bengals’ attack needs
There aren’t many ways for the Cincinnati Bengals to handle their long list of issues between the 2024 NFL draft and free agency.
I believe that’s a major reason why mock drafts are so alluring to Bengals fans. Since it’s evident that they’re going after both sets of trenches and tight ends first,.
And that’s precisely what they accomplish in Curt Popejoy of Draft Wire’s most recent three-round attempt.
The Bengals select Georgia tight end Brock Bowers with the 18th overall pick, saying, “If Bowers falls this far, he’s the biggest bargain of the first round to the Bengals.”
With 26 receiving touchdowns in the last three seasons, Bowers seems to be the class’s finest player at his position and would be Joe Burrow’s first choice for a tight end.
In the next two rounds, the Bengals launch an assault on the trenches:
49, Oakland Raiders, Overtime Houston 80: Patrick Paul: Cincinnati Bengals, DL Williams, Tyleik, Ohio State
For a Bengals squad that needs support in every aspect, this is an incredible haul. If the team spends heavily to retain some of its own major free agents, like Tee Higgins and DJ Reader, it may even be a better kind of haul.
