Red Bull driver testing 2024 F1 car gives verdict on Lewis Hamilton’s title chances
Formula E champion Jake Dennis is also a Red Bull development driver and has been on the simulator in recent months, helping the team create their 2024 RB20 car
Lewis Hamilton has been advised by Red Bull simulator driver Jake Dennis not to bother rekindling his fight with Max Verstappen for the Formula 1 title this year.
The reigning Formula E champion believes Hamilton shouldn’t raise his expectations for a title challenge in 2024 after helping Verstappen refine his machine for the upcoming season.
After experiencing the evolving car on the simulator, he responded to a question from Mirror Sport by saying, “We’ve got a really fast race car again at the Red Bull team.”
Unless someone like Ferrari or Mercedes manages to discover roughly a second [per lap] overnight, I would expect us to repeat as champions. I predict that Formula 1 will have a very boring season, with Max most likely winning.
Red Bull’s RB19 machine dominated the sport, winning all but one of the 22 races that were staged last year. Verstappen broke numerous F1 records and was personally accountable for 19 of those wins.
Because of their superiority, they were able to concentrate on creating the RB20 months before their competitors could start planning their 2024 vehicles. Dennis stated, “I’d be lying if I claimed we didn’t swiftly turn our attention to the 2024 automobile.” After Singapore, we didn’t work on the 2023 car at all.
Red Bull didn’t even bother to work on their car for the seven races that followed that September race. And the truth is that, at least a month earlier, they had already moved some development resources to the RB20.
