Micah Parsons has identified what the Dallas Cowboys will need in 2024, and this Chiefs star may be it.
Micah Parsons should be ashamed of himself because he paid for his performance at the NBA All-Star celebrity game.
Micah Parsons of the Dallas Cowboys caused a training accident that sent Stephen A. Smith to the hospital.
For 2024, the Dallas Cowboys are putting all of their chips in the middle of the table. In an attempt to break the team’s 28-year Super Bowl drought, owner Jerry Jones is consulting with some of his best players, like linebacker Michal Parsons, to assemble a squad that can return Dallas to the top of the NFL mountain.
The Cowboys’ defeat to the Green Bay Packers in the wild-card round of the season exposed gaps that must be addressed before Dallas can seriously contend with Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. One of those is on the defensive line, and it just so happens that the Chiefs’ defensive lineman, one of the best interior linemen in the NFL, may become a free agent in May.
Parsons: A big, mean pass-rusher is what the Cowboys need.
In a recent appearance on “The Stephen A. Smith Show,” Parsons disclosed that he had discussed with Jones what he believed to be necessary for the Cowboys to advance in 2024. Naturally, Parsons, a defensive player by trade, recommended adding more muscle to the line and bringing in “one of them big old, nasty, pass-rushing, get-going” linemen.
Parsons recalled, “I told them to look at every team that made it to the final four.” “Who were they with? Oakland and Detroit. Baltimore had whom? What a fantastic linebacking corps! Who was there in San Francisco? Outstanding linebacking corps. Nick Bolton was with Kansas City when they arrived. I stated that we must acquire a second, bigger linebacker who is willing to drop passes. I mentioned that we must have a really bad, 330 interior.”
As a “nasty” interior lineman with experience, Chris Jones, the veteran Chief, is a good fit.Although Jones has expressed his desire to remain in Kansas City, there is no chance of a contract extension anytime soon, and tension-filled recent talks between Jones and the Chiefs suggest that a breakup is not totally out of the question.
Is Chris Jones actually going to end up in Dallas?
The player’s compensation demands are what might deter the Cowboys from taking Jones seriously in their pursuit. Jones, a five-time Pro Bowl pick and two-time first-team All-Pro, has further expressed his desire to be among the highest-paid defensive linemen in the game. On the free market, he could easily fetch $30 million annually.
Dallas is unable to afford such a cost. The Cowboys are expected to exceed the pay cap for the upcoming season due to their current roster of pricey players, even before prospective extensions for Parsons and wide receiver CeeDee Lamb take effect. Jerry Jones most likely won’t be able to find the massive interior lineman Parsons feels would help the team elsewhere.
