Roger Federer said goodbye to professional tennis at the 2022 Laker Cup, and he then shared with fans his post-retirement routine.
The Swiss player lost 6-4, 6-7, and 9-11 in his most recent encounter when he and tennis buddy and fierce rival Rafael Nadal faced off against the American duo of Jack Sock and Frances Tiafoe in doubles.
During a recent interview with GQ Sports, the 42-year-old revealed that he has always been happy in his family life.
Federer stated, “Tennis was my identity, but it wasn’t what I was doing all day, every day.” “I mean, I’m trying to be more of a husband, father, and son for the most part. I used to play tennis as a hobby, but eventually I made that my career. However, I’ve always made an effort to define myself as more than just a tennis player.”
Federer went on to say that he has always recognized the need to develop outside of his position as a player.
“I still had all the other things when tennis was taken away or set aside,” the Swiss remarked. “In any case, I believe that mentality has served me well throughout my career. I was aware that you have to be able to move on from tennis if it ends tomorrow, which can happen due to an accident or other circumstances.
