Amazingly: Carlos Alcaraz is more formidable than Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, and Roger Federer.

Medvedev and Alcaraz faced each other for the seventh time in their careers during the 2024 Wimbledon semi-final, with the Spaniard emerging victorious for the fifth time, winning 6-7 (1-7), 6-3, 6-4, 6-4. Alcaraz has now won their last three matches, including this year’s Indian Wells Open final and last year’s ATP Finals.

While many have likened Alcaraz to Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic, suggesting his game combines elements of the three legends, Medvedev, who has played against all four, sees it differently.

“The thing is, I played the big three when they were over 30. It’s a bit different,” the former world No. 1 said after his semi-final defeat.

“They’re all unique in their own ways. Roger plays on the line with beautiful technique and often goes to the net. Novak plays on the line too, but with amazing defense, like a pinball player where the ball comes back faster. Rafa is completely different; he can stay ten meters behind but will run to every ball with his lefty banana shots.

Carlos, I don’t think he resembles any of them. His game style is different. What sets Carlos apart is his versatility—he can defend, counterattack, and be super aggressive. He can do it all.”
