Tyreek Williams, an Ohio State defensive tackle who was named to the second team of the Big Ten and tied for the team lead in tackles for loss, will rejoin the Buckeyes in 2024.
Williams posted a statement on social media on Wednesday announcing his decision, saying that while he “ain’t done creating them yet,” he will “never forget the moments” made at Ohio State.
This season, he was perhaps Ohio State’s most reliable defensive lineman, tallying 10 tackles for loss in addition to 3 sacks, 5 pass breakups, and a recovered fumble.
Williams is ranked as the seventh defensive tackle prospect available for the draft by ESPN’s Mel Kiper. Williams was ranked as the third defensive tackle in the 2024 draft by ESPN’s Matt Miller last month, behind projected first-round selections Jer’Zhan Newton of Illinois and T’Vondre Sweat of Texas. In 2021, as a freshman, the 6-foot-2, 290-pound Williams recorded five sacks and 6.5 tackles for loss.
Ohio State is awaiting the decisions of several more important defenders, such as linemen Jack Sawyer and JT Tuimoloau, regarding the NFL draft. Last Monday, tackle Michael Hall Jr. declared for the draft.
