Antonio Brown: I WILL PLAY FOR STEELERS FOR FREE ONLY IF
The iconic wide receiver, Antonio Brown, is considering a comeback to the Pittsburgh Steelers, and he’s willing to do so without any financial compensation. However, he has one stipulation for his return.
In a social media post, Brown expressed his openness to rejoining the Steelers, but on the condition that he be given jersey number 86. This decision follows Brown’s frustration over the Steelers assigning jersey number 84 to free agent acquisition Cordarrelle Patterson.
Brown emphasized that jersey numbers shouldn’t hold much significance, suggesting that the switch to number 86 shouldn’t be a major issue.
Brown’s absence from the NFL dates back to 2021, when he abruptly left a game with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. His tenure with the Pittsburgh Steelers concluded in 2018, marked by being benched in the final game of the season and subsequently traded to the Oakland Raiders in the offseason.
During his time with the Steelers, Brown amassed impressive statistics, totaling 11,207 yards and 74 touchdowns. He garnered recognition with four All-Pro selections and seven Pro Bowl appearances, leading the league in receptions, receiving yards twice, and receiving touchdowns once.
Although Brown may entertain the idea of returning to Pittsburgh, particularly if he were granted Hines Ward’s former jersey number, the likelihood of the Steelers welcoming him back onto their roster appears slim.
